ATTENDANCE AND DISMISSAL – IMPORTANT

Out of concern for your children, please call 793-6130 ext. 5509 EVERY time your child is not in attendance at school.  Please leave a detailed message with the nurse, Mrs. Kaessler, or leave a message on her voicemail at the extension above.  Please leave the following information if you should reach the recording:  first and last name of the child, date, class and the reason for absence.  If a student is absent without a parent calling, Nurse Kaessler’s office or the main office, will call the home or designated number to confirm your child’s absence.  Also, when a student is late the child MUST get a late pass from the front desk before going to their classroom.

If your child is out sick more than one consecutive day, you must call the Nurse, ext. 5509 each day your child is out.  Do not e-mail, text or leave a voicemail with the child’s teacher.

It is also district policy to send in a note to your child’s teacher on the day he or she returns from being absent stating the reason why.  Failure to do so will result in an illegal absence.

REMINDER OF CHANGE IN DISMISSAL

Please remember to send a NOTE (with the date and your signature) to your child’s classroom teacher or submit the attached form for any change in dismissal for a particular day.   The dismissal form can also be found on the school website.

Children can get confused with last minute changes.  Therefore, to insure proper dismissal, teachers should be notified in writing at the beginning of the school day.  Also, please note children are not permitted to go home with another student on the bus if they are not a bus student, and students are not permitted to change buses.

EARLY PICK UPS:

We know there are emergencies that do arise but there will now be a cut off of 11:00 am for any change in dismissals that arise and not reported in the morning.

In the event that you must pick up your child early from school, please do so before 2:30 p.m. as we need to keep the office and foyer clear from 2:30 until the end of the day to ensure a smooth dismissal procedure.  We also need to keep the front circle clear for the buses so there can be no parking in the visitor spots and front circle after 2:30 p.m. to allow the buses to get into the school.  Please also refrain from parking in the back lot behind the school.  That is strictly for staff.  There are some staff members that are coming back to the school late in the day that can’t find parking due to spots being occupied by parents waiting for pick up.

Please also try not to pick up your child during their lunch or recess time as it is hard for the staff to retrieve children from the playground areas and teachers are on their breaks so therefore it is hard to have the child packed up.  Please arrange for pick-up before and/or after lunch/recess hours.

Kindergarten Lunch/Recess:   11:15 – 12:15

First Grade Lunch/Recess:      12:30-1:30

E-mails and phone calls to change dismissal are not a reliable source of proper identification of parents and WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED for a change of dismissal.  Also, if the teacher is out or the e-mail system is down, the e-mail might not reach the appropriate party.
